“A person should live in constant harmony and unison with their surroundings. Constant harmony between man and nature, man and man, man and the universe. Gods, man, and environs should exist in perfect balance with one another.”

-The Epic of Ramayana

“Dua Nusa in Nusa Dua” (Two Islands in Nusa Dua; Nusa is an Indonesian word for Island) was a design competition held to develop two islands located in the southern part of Bali, Indonesia. The idea of The Garden of Hope came from the epic of Ramayana, a folk tale traceable to Indonesia’s Hindu era, with Rama, Sinta, and Hanuman being the central characters. The basic concept of this garden is to bring the epic of Ramayana to life. Walking through the garden was like walking through a living story book with the chapters of the epic scattered throughout.
